Cowboy

There is an old uranium-mining road that rimes the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands N.P. known to mountain bikers as the White Rim Trail. It is on the White Rim Trail that you’ll find this old cattle corral built into an alcove of a cliff wall. For me, what brings this picture to life is not the Fall color, but the silhouetted stone face of the cowboy in the alcove wall.
